September 2, 2018 – My children, all the more the shadows of darkness and deception are being cast over you, and I am calling you to the light and truth-I am calling you to my Son…
Our Lady is reminding us again of the very authentic reality of spiritual warfare. We may not realize it at times, but we are in the middle of a tremendous battle between light and darkness; a battle for souls.
Spiritual warfare can be a daunting or complicated thing to talk about, but we all experience it to a certain degree in both great and small things. We can also see it happening around all around us as well. In schools, in the family, in government, in the Church, in society, etc.
At every corner, to a lesser or greater degree, interiorly or exteriorly, the Enemy of the Soul is casting his weapons of deceit and evil to destroy all that is good and from God in our lives. To create havoc, division, and hate among mankind; to propagate violence, lies, selfishness in hearts, and to turn souls away from God.
As these flaming darts are flying in all directions, we can see (even feel) this spiritual battle intensifying. But the Blessed Mother is here among us, standing against the machinations of the Evil One, and offering us truth and light: Her Son, Jesus. She is calling us to Jesus, the Light of the whole world, and the best way we can actively answer this call is through the Holy Rosary.
I might’ve shared this once (or perhaps more than once) before, but it’s worth sharing again. Here’s what St. Louis de Montfort once wrote about the Rosary in his book The Secret of the Rosary:
Good and devout souls, who walk in the light of the Holy Spirit, I do not think you will mind my giving you this little mystical rose tree which comes straight from heaven and which is to be planted in the garden of your soul. It cannot possibly harm the sweet-smelling flowers of your contemplations; for it is a heavenly tree and its scent is very pleasant. It will not in the least interfere with your carefully planned flower-beds; for, being itself all pure and well-ordered, it inclines all to order and purity. If it is carefully watered and properly attended to every day, it will grow to such a marvelous height, and its branches will have such a wide span that, far from hindering your other devotions, it will maintain and perfect them. Of course, you understand what I mean, since you are spiritually minded; this mystical rose tree is Jesus and Mary in life, death and eternity.
Its green leaves are the Joyful Mysteries, the thorns the Sorrowful ones, and the flowers the Glorious Mysteries of Jesus and Mary. The buds are the childhood of Jesus and Mary, and the open blooms show us both of them in their sufferings, and the full-blown roses symbolize Jesus and Mary in their triumph and glory.
A rose delights us because of its beauty: so here we have Jesus and Mary in the Joyful Mysteries. Its thorns are sharp, and they prick, which makes us think of them in the Sorrowful Mysteries, and last of all, its perfume is so sweet that everyone loves it, and this fragrance symbolizes their Glorious Mysteries.
So please do not scorn this beautiful and heavenly tree, but plant it with your own hands in the garden of your soul, by making the resolution to say your Rosary every day. By saying it daily and by doing good works you will be tending your tree, watering it, hoeing the earth around it.
Eventually you will see that this little seed which I have given you, and which seems so very small now, will grow into a tree so great that the birds of Heaven, that is, predestinate and contemplative souls, will dwell in it and make their nests there. Its shade will shelter them from the scorching heat of the sun and its height will keep them safe from the wild beasts on the ground. And best of all, they will feed upon the tree’s fruit, which is none other than our adorable Jesus, to whom be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
The Rosary is a great shield and weapon against the forces of darkness, and also a grace-filled benefit to our interior life. The power of the prayer of the Rosary is “indescribable,” as Fulton Sheen once said, and one we should not take for granted.
Now, more than ever, the Rosary is needed dearly in this spiritual battle we’re in the middle of. For families, nations, the Church, for believers and non-believers; for children and the unborn, for priests and religious. For all souls, everywhere! The Rosary is our defense and the weapon against the devil.
December 2, 2017 – …In this peaceless world full of threats, your hands, apostles of my love, should be extended in prayer and mercy. And to me, my children, give the gift of the rosary, the roses which I love so much. My roses are your prayers pronounced with the heart and not only recited with the lips. My roses are your acts of prayer, faith and love. When my Son was little, he said to me that my children would be numerous and that they would bring me many roses. I did not comprehend Him. Now I know that you are those children who are bringing me roses when, above all, you love my Son, when you pray with the heart, when you help the poorest. Those are my roses…
August 8, 1985 – “Dear children! Today I call you especially now to advance against satan by means of prayer. Satan wants to work still more now that you know he is at work. Dear children, put on the armor for battle and with the Rosary in your hand defeat him! Thank you for having responded to my call.”
February 25, 1988 – “Dear children! Today again I am calling you to prayer to complete surrender to God. You know that I love you and am coming here out of love so I could show you the path to peace and salvation for your souls. I want you to obey me and not permit satan to seduce you. Dear children, satan is very strong and, therefore, I ask you to dedicate your prayers to me so that those who are under his influence can be saved. Give witness by your life. Sacrifice your lives for the salvation of the world. I am with you, and I am grateful to you, but in heaven you shall receive the Father’s reward which He has promised to you. Therefore, dear children, do not be afraid. If you pray, satan cannot injure you even a little bit because you are God’s children and He is watching over you. Pray and let the rosary always be in your hand as a sign to satan that you belong to me. Thank you for having responded to my call.”
January 25, 1995 – “Dear children! Today, like never before, I invite you to prayer. Let your prayer be a prayer for peace. Satan is strong and desires to destroy not only human life, but also nature and the planet on which you live. Therefore, dear children, pray that through prayer you can protect yourselves with God’s blessing of peace. God has sent me among you so that I may help you. If you so wish, grasp for the rosary. Even the rosary alone can work miracles in the world and in your lives. I bless you and I remain with you for as long as it is God’s will. Thank you for not betraying my presence here and I thank you because your response is serving the good and the peace.”
Today the Church celebrates the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Mother. Today, as we celebrate and give thanks to God for the gift of His Mother, let us offer up to Our Lady the gift of roses she loves so very much: the Rosary.
January 2, 2017 – “…Of you, my apostles, I am asking for your roses of prayer which need to be acts of love. To my motherly heart these are the dearest prayers. I offer these to my Son who was born for your sake. He looks at you and hears you. We are always close to you. This is the love which calls, unites, converts, encourages and fulfills. Therefore, my apostles, always love one another and above all, love my Son. This is the only way to salvation, to eternal life. This is my dearest prayer which fills my heart with the most beautiful scent of roses”
February 2 ,2017 – “…Therefore, you, apostles of my love, pray with the heart and with your works show the love of my Son. This is the only hope for you, and this is also the only way to eternal life. I, as a mother, I am here with you. Your prayers directed to me are the most beautiful roses of love for me. I cannot but be where I sense the scent of roses. There is hope.”
