November 2, 2007 message from Our Lady of Medjugorje to Mirjana Dragicevic-Soldo:
“Dear children, today I call you to open your hearts to the Holy Spirit and permit Him to transform you.
My children, God is the immeasurable good and therefore, as a mother, I implore you: Pray, pray, pray, fast and hope that it is possible to achieve good, because from that good love is born.
The Holy Spirit will strengthen that love in you and you will be able to call God your Father.
Through this exalted love, you will truly come to love all people and, through God, you will regard them as brothers and sisters. Thank you.”
While Our Lady was blessing, She said: “On the way on which I lead you to my Son, those who represent Him walk beside me.”
During one afternoon of prayer and meditation, I randomly came upon this message from the Blessed Mother and loved it so much I decided to save it so I could share it here. After reading it over again, I was quickly reminded of what Saint Paul had written in 1 Thessalonians:
“Do not stifle the Spirit” [5:19]
It always amazes me how Our Lady’s words echo Scripture in some way, only confirming all that she’s been saying for over 30+ years in Medjugorje comes only from the same breath of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit lives in each of us and is our window to the Father. Jesus spoke about the Holy Spirit before His passion with the apostles in the Gospel of Saint John. The Spirit leads us, instructs us, and glorifies God. The Holy Spirit is also the spouse of the Blessed Mother.
What happens when we ignore the Holy Spirit? Faith dwindles, our relationship with the Lord grows lukewarm or even ice cold; our hearts harden, and we put aside God’s will for our own. Prayer becomes a chore therefore cutting off all communication with God; fasting and practicing the Sacraments is viewed as “too pious” and “a waste of time” therefore suffocating the Spirit and leading us further away from God.
To put it plainly, we become lost. We become of the world instead of just living in it. The money, the fashions, the misuse of technology, the immorality and profanity, the senseless violence, and ideologies. All that degrades and deviates us from God’s will. The exact opposite of peace, love, and faith.
How many people we know completely stifle the Holy Spirit, and because of that do not know of the endless love and mercy of God; the messages and apparitions of the Blessed Mother which are nothing less than a gift from God, or the Truth they are constantly being diverted from or refusing. All of this deeply hurts Our Mother because she sees what it does to her children. And most of all, she is aware of how much it hurts her Son as well.
That’s why she’s here among us, asking us to open ourselves to the Holy Spirit. Repair our relationship with God! Choose love and forgiveness! Be carriers of peace and humility. Fight back against evil with prayer, fasting, Holy Communion, and the practice of the Sacred Sacraments! Read Scripture, allow the Spirit to inspire and teach us so we can get to know Jesus better! Allow ourselves to be transformed by Him! And through it all, Our Lady tells us that the Holy Spirit will strengthen us. No matter the adversity or tribulation, our efforts will not be in vain.
The graces we obtain through even our smallest efforts never end with us, but spreads far and wide to unimaginable distances, and limitless number of souls!
